Training Diary // WC 22nd April 2019

So I really need to get my bum back in gear, I have so much I need to train for and I am so much happier when I actually have a program to work today’s. Sadly prior to this week I did some epic weight lifting and managed to hurt my back really badly. Not only did this mean I missed out on the Easter Festival of Running (watch out I’m coming for you next year) but it meant that this week I was just putting the feelers out to see how I was functioning.

YAY for Bank Holiday’s right! Extra YAY for the other half actually being off!! This is my first “proper” run after a week off because of my back and well I was much happier to actually do this with someone than without, just encase my back didn’t hold up!

After much decision we decided to run around Archallagan, now this Plantation is our local one and I have walked and cycled it more times than I can count. I seriously love it more than anything and this little place is my happy place. I remember walking and cycling dreaming of running around it and after I broke my ankle I never thought I’d be able to do it well today I did and it was amazing, so much so I will be adding it to my running routes!

Tuesday 23rd April 2019

Normally today we would be doing a walk/run with Jessica during lunch to get her out but she was busy so it was just myself and Corrine. Cue a super speedy 2.6 Miles!! I couldn’t believe how fast I was going and oh my, it was so good to stretch these legs!!

I had so much fun at lunch that I decided to go out again after work. As I wanted to take the pup out I thought the best place would be along out heritage trail. It’s a lovely (if a wee bit rocky and bumpy from all the muddy cycling!) old disused railway line. If you follow it all the way through you’ll get to Douglas. I stupidly downloaded prior to going a 150bpm podcast. Let’s just say that was one super speedy run!! I didn’t even know I had it in me!

Wednesday 24th April 2019

Today we just did some really good cross training.

I love going to the gym to do strength training, I really do feel like it’s my spirit animal. I decided to just focus on our upper arm strength and some crossfit items. All in all it was a really good session for 45 minutes!!

Friday 26th April 2019

Another day in the gym doing strength training! I was really glad that this one was mostly upper arms. I had gone out for site inspections in the morning so my ankle was killing me by the time lunch came around!!

So not only have I got the Liverpool Spring 5K/10K and the Run Rock’n’Roll Liverpool 5K/Half Marathon I thought it would be great to sign up for the Harbour to Harbour walk at home! It’s 9 miles and we’re expecting to finish it less than 3 hours hopefully. I’m going to be using it as a practice for the Parish Walk just to give us an idea of how well I’ll be doing. I’ve also put down that I’ll be doing it with the pup so it will be a lovely walk out with him.

Saturday 27th April 2019

I’m sure you’ve heard but it seems like a little storm was coming out way and well it turns out we’re all quite mad. As next weekend is the Liverpool Spring 5K/10K and we’d just mad out outfits we thought today would be a great day to try them out, and boy was it a day. We had a Park Run full of wind, rain and flash flooding!! I’ve never seen so much water during a Park Run since I started doing them, we ran with Jess so managed to get it done in around 45 minutes, which for Jess is really good!

Sunday 28th April 2019

Second to last long run with Jessica today before Run Rock’n’Roll Liverpool Half Marathon so we went for a 10 miler around Castletown way. Mainly because I had LLAG afterwards. The run was great timing for Jess and it gives her a good idea of when she would be looking at finishing. I defiantly expect her to be finishing before the 3.30 hour cut off.

Did Lift Like a Girl Barbell class straight afterwards and I learnt my lesson from the last time I did it and did low weights compared to what I can actually do just because May is so bleeding busy I just cannot have any chances of getting an injury!

So when we got home from LLAG it was straight onto catching up with the London Marathon and well of cause I had to put my name in the pot! It’s one of those dream races which prior to running I was always like “oh wouldn’t it be amazing to do” and now I’m like “I could so smash that.” We’ll see though I’ve heard stories of people taking over 7 years to get in and longer!!! It would be amazing if I could get in though as I do have grand aspirations of maybe adding a lovely six star finisher to my medal collection (cough cough) LOL!!
