Tuesday was a strength training day with the sister in the gym. I love the fact that we are both in our London pants and also how different they look! I’m wearing capri’s I swear!!

Wednesday was a quick (seriously quick as it was just us two) run up and down Douglas prom during lunch. 2.56 Miles of which both were in the 10 min miles!! Still amazed at how fast I am running lately.

Thursday was another day in the gym strength training, my aim over the coming weeks is to try and get more photo’s of me doing the training sessions we are going through. This TRX is well scary. You just clip it into a portal on the roof and your good to go! I always panic it’s not going to take my weight so I never really know if I’m doing the weights properly or not!!
I also spent the night doing a quick pack for our weekend trip away to Liverpool for the Liverpool Spring 5K & 10K (race report to come on both soon!) I normally pack rather minimally and I found it really hard this time what with the racing costumes and the extra shoes!!

So Friday was on the boat day in the afternoon after half a day at work and then the best recce run ever! The night before I had done a quick google map play for a run around Sefton Park as we knew we wanted to get a little run in, well it wasn’t long before I started noticing that the park was perfect to make a suggestive picture! Turns out it was a lot harder to do that I thought, we got lost once, hence the little kick up at the top and then while we were looking at the map figuring out which way to go our other sister continued on down the path, hence the line inside! Overall though it was a good run a bit a lot longer than we wanted!! I was only hoping for a 5K!

Sunday was the Liverpool Spring 10K and as with the 5K I don’t want to say much as I will be doing a Race Report.
We came back home on the Sunday afternoon boat so didn’t have much downtime sadly. This week was more about ticking my fitness over and having a really good time while we were away. I’ve got a “break” week prior to the Harbour to Harbour walk and then it will be the Liverpool Run Rock’n’Roll so not much downtime this month!
So after the amazing PB that I got on the Liverpool Springs 5K, I knew I wanted to do my best during this 10K, especially as it was my second and there was potential that I could beat my time.
My flatlay was done the night before to make sure I had everything I needed. We normally try and wear the supermanx for all the half’s we do as it’s a consistent outfit, plus it saves up having to come up with something every time, anyhow we decided that we’d wear it for the 10K this time.
We got up early, ordered the taxi and then watched the rain, OMG it was lashing it down. We couldn’t belive it.
We packed our bags and was still waiting for the taxi………………yeahhhhhhhh the taxi, the less we say the better. We ordered a taxi two hours before the event so that we would get their early. Turns out that wasn’t early enough.
We got into our taxi half an hour before the start of which we got to the start with our luggage 5 minutes before it was going to start.

All I could think about was how time was catching up with us. I decided to check on the other two trucks and noticed one was going quicker so we legged it to that one and dropped our luggage off. While we we’re there one of the guys radio’ed back and said they couldn’t start as there was too many people at bag check.
At that time the “official” start time had come and gone!
After dropping off our luggage we raced to the start line and manoeuvred our way up to my “estimated” time.
How cool is the pacer!!!!? She was amazing and had a little music box with her to keep everything going. I was really interested in how she kept pace with two watches which beeped at her if she went over a pace or below a pace.
The race itself started off great, that first mile I felt great, the second amazing by the third I felt like I could continue at that pace forever, oh how that didn’t last.
On the 4th mile I started to feel tired and was dreaming of doing a slower pace, mile 5 was slightly less speed but this is where my moaning started to get out. I seriously cannot think what came over me but I was not the person anyone would want to run with at all.
On mile 6 I was awful, I was crying constantly because the pace was to much and complaining while telling my sister to F’off because she could run at this pace no bother, which just made me even more mad.
Everything really came to a head when someone who must of been a friend with “field mouse” jeered at us….yeahhhhhhh you should never tell anyone they are doing “shit” while running a race, I subsequently told him to F’off very VERY loudly. To this day I still cannot believe anyone would say that to anyone even if you know them or not.
Well I survived the race! It is very bittersweet for me, I got my PB amazingly. My chip time was 1:09:09 which is a PB off just over 4 minutes. Hands down that is amazing but what I put my sister through and “field mouse” through wasn’t worth that at all, in no shape or form.
I apologised immensely, but that will never be enough.
Thankfully I have learned my lesson a PB isn’t worth that. As soon as I started to show real struggle and not just the going to getting tough I should of backed down. I was going to PB anyway at the rate we were running at the start so if I backed off for the last two miles I would of made it. I think having the stress at the start of the race probably didn’t help but that isn’t any suitable excuse.
Overall both the 5K and the 10K were amazing. I loved both runs and depending on how everything falls I can see myself doing them again, because how could I not, that bling was pure gold lol.
Liverpool Springs oh how excited we were for you! We had arrived the day before to our amazing AirBnB which we WILL be staying in again hopefully for next year! Especially if we do the Liverpool Springs again!
The night before I got all my stuff together. I had managed to persuade my sisters once again that we needed to dress up, and especially so as it was the 4th of May, you can kinda guess what theme we went with……….May the 4th be with you lol. I found the t shirt on eBay and new instantly it would go with out Tikiboo pants.
We got to the event kind of early because our Airbnb was literally just around the corner, which turned out great. We got a couple of photo’s taken with the local radio station and a lovely one of us all together.
There wasn’t anything to do at the start point apart from just hover in the sun, though we did pretend to be kids and get glitter put on us.

The course itself was actually really good, all set with Sefton Park which made it great, it also had a couple of hills which I wasn’t prepared for!
I felt the run itself we by very fast, I don’t know why but as soon as I was on that start line I was telling myself that I was going to PB. I tried to talk myself out of it as well this was my first “official” 5K, even though I had done countless 5K’s in training and Park Runs. Even more so because the day after I would be doing my second 10K and wanted a PB. Nothing worked and I ended up just going for it!
I’m still amazed that I PB’ed the course, I cannot even get my head around it. My goal for 2019 was to get my 5K time to below 35 minutes and I smashed that by doing a time of 32.54!!!
I loved this course and would recommend it for anyone.

Oh I love this photo so much, it’s perfectly shows us three as we are naturally (sometimes!), me and Jess messing around while Corrine mother hens!
So day 3 started slow, we got up early to get breakfast, only place we could all agree on was McDonald’s, first time in years I’ve been there. Just how I remembered it though. Interesting fact, the breakfast hash brown things above are Vegan in the UK, no so much everywhere else!
Also we had to get a photo of Jess next to the Markle and Sparkle poster as she works in the M&S here!
The signs for us making the right choice of going to Copenhagen later on this year are all over the place,
I will forever love Bowie, especially in The Labyrinth which is my favourite movie ever, so getting a photo wiht this mural was a must.
The train back to Liverpool was great, we had a good natter with a bloke and his staffy who was the cutest ever, very well trained.
Happy to find a re-fillable water station in Liverpool Train Station, it worked a treat especially in the super hot weather.
Back to Down the Hatch for lunch, I might be slightly addicted!!! Really glad I don’t live around the corner as I’d be heavier than I am now. Super nomnom. I couldn’t manage all my seitan bites (ate way to much this weekend) so saved them for the boat. BTW the halloumi for starter was to die for!!
We went back to the health food store and picked up a couple of made on site juices for the boat.
Always always have to pop into Hotel Chocolate for a drink and a top up of chocolates, I didn’t see much that I wanted this time around which was a shame but the Coffee Hot Chocolate was on point.
Back onto the boat for the trip back home.
And back home!
Phew what a weekend!
Loved every minute of it.
I have to say on the Sunday even though I didn’t photo it we were inundated with marathon runners, and my oh my, my brain was ticking over with ideas and somehow on the boat trip home I managed to persuade both my sisters to join me next year and hopefully you will already see a post about this (if I’ve done it, fingers crossed). So excited (and scared) about the whole idea. I do feel like it might be the making of us though!
Only just another month and a bit before I’m back away, only for a day but cannot wait!!!
Onto day two of our little trip, this was our only full day of being out and about so we made sure we got out early.
How beautiful is this weather, we couldn’t find a cloud in the sky!!
First stop was to a lovely and quite big health food store, it sells everything and anything. We always go in and dream about how we wished we could buy items in bulk and how amazing it would be to get everything plastic and package free in one place! As I brought just my carry on bag we decided buying all the bulk wouldn’t be an option so I settled for two chocolates and a ChariTea, oh and an amazing slice of Vegan Biscoff cake!!
The Lovingearth chocolate is one I’ve had a few times and it’s just out of this world. This one is a wee bit salty so I will probably just go with the plain caramel next time. I especially love this chocolate because even though the chocolate is packaged in “plastic” it’s 100% made out of plants so is compostable. The paper is also printed with vegetable inks. What’s not to love about that!!
Our next stop was to Lush, oh how I love lush!! I had a little list on me of items I needed and even though I didn’t get them all I think I got a really good skutch. You have some new Deo, a Big conditioner, a new soap, some toothpaste, my face wash and some moisturiser. I’d also been drooling over this knot wrap for a long while on the website and just had to buy it, so it will now be in my travelling collection.
Side note: I’ve been using both my new lush shampoo and conditioner and have to say they make my hair feel wonderful. I’m just having an issue with my hair becoming greasy after a couple of days.
Onto our Egg Cafe breakfast, if you ever go you have to have the Vegan Breakfast their tofu scramble is to die for. We also have their handmade lemonade everytime, which is lovely even if I still dream of the ones we had in america.
Next stop was a quick top up on coffee in the train terminal. We all went with Iced Coffee’s this time and I was very surprised that the cashier (the blurry one in the photo) went ” you want it in THAT,” he wasn’t very nice about it, it was the first time both myself and my sister felt bad about asking to have our drinks in a re-usable container.
We had a lovely trip down on the train, we ended up eating our cakes and I came upon my first Zero Waste fail. I had to use a plastic fork. I still have it on me but I felt really bad and once I get paid getting a re-usable cutlery set will go a long way in helping with my Zero Waste travelling dreams.
When we got to Birmingham it was straight into the Bullring to find some Vegan doughnuts we had heard about, while walking into Paperchase I found this card! I thought it’s so true of our Sunday Dinners at home. I might even do a embroidered version because how could I not!
So the doughnuts were an epic fail, they looked just like the ones from a Kind Mama which we were not impressed with but we went past the Lola’s who had Vegan cupcakes! So we each treated ourselves to a couple. This was another Zero Waste fail. I did refuse a bag and shared with my sister but I need to find a re-usable tin or something like it which would be big enough to carry a cupcake in it, or a couple. This would of made this better. I guess I could of gone with a slice of cake and maybe that might be what I’ll have to do next time, still it cannot be hard to have a look around just encase I see a suitable tin.
Next up we had a trip outside Birmingham to Guthrie and Ghani, which we felt was a very upmarket fabric shop. Very very lovely and I was very very tempted. I have a few projects on the go at the moment so I made sure I was buying for projects and not stashing as I’m trying to get away from having a large stash. We have the Christmas Fabric which I got in the sale (I bought all they had left 2.2 meters!), this will be turned into Christmas Napkins/Knot Wraps the same size as my lush one for when we all go to Poland for the Christmas Markets, this way we will have a suitable carrier for any pastries ect we get. The other three fabrics are from Liberty London and will be used on my current Sunday School EPP quilt.
Now for a detour, this was the ice which was left in my Kleen Kanteen after at least a few hours, we had around 2 hours travelling and then another 2 shopping. How amazing is that, I am so impressed with my Mustard Dream, so much so I could be tempted to buy a bigger one for when I go camping!!!
Dinner was at our favourite Chinese ever Cafe Soya, we prefer the little cafe which is in the Chinese Quarter next to the cute cake shops. I went with my normal Vegan Duck for starter and the Pineapple Rice for the main course. Both of which were exactly how I remember them being. Though I did feel like I was dying of sodium lol. My sisters went with the sampler starter, I swapped a couple of nibbles for some duck because I love the Vegan Prawn Toast, just could not handle a whole lot of it.
Last but not least we got in quite early and we were going to watch a movie on the iPad but just couldn’t find it for love or money it was only available in America. So we settled for an early night, until the heat got too much so we decided to go out for a walk and get coffee. I was amazed that the local Starbucks was open till 11!!!!!!!! Completely unheard of over here but was very welcome as we thought we were pushing our luck at it being close to 9.
All in all it was a great if not busy and tiring day! Exactly what we wanted!!
This last weekend was hot with a capital H and what better to do that spend the weekend with my amazing sisters and pop on a boat for a weekend away!!
We set off on Friday afternoon, having all met up outside our workplace to grab a quick lunch, yay for hummus and falafal wraps, then a quick fast walk to get the boat. I was really happy in the fact that my sisters had a) packed minimalistly (see first photo, we all took backpacks, for the win!) and b) brought some Zero Waste helpers along with them. We still have a lot more trial and errors to go through, but overall the weekend went great.
On the boat we tried our first holiday snacks, A Kind Mama brownies and doughnuts. I will be doing a review of them soon (spoiler nice but not quiet what we were expecting). Mini Rant – I’m a wee bit upset that even though I was messaging her about getting as little plastic packaging as possible I still ended up having my brownies sealed in twos in separate plastic, sigh!
Touching down in Liverpool was great, I don’t think I’ve been here when the weather hasn’t been lovely. We took a decent trek down to find the hotel, which was a distance away so I got to get my fill of the canal boats. Oh how I’d love to own one. When I was younger we went on a family holiday on one and I love it so much, so many memories, mostly of eating only peas and prawns though lol! I also follow a few canal boat interior things because seriously some of them are amazing inside.
Finally got to our hotel. We had a wee bit of a rest before heading out for food which was nice, especially in the heat!
One of the things I truly love about Liverpool is the street art, this particular one we seen a few times and I love her more each time.
Dinner was out of this world!

I had already decided that I wanted to try Down the Hatch since someone recommended going and I read the menu. I spent weeks upon weeks drooling just thinking about what I was going to have. Trying to find the place though was a different matter, we though we had given enough time to find the place, but after not really understanding where we were we asked a couple of Police Officers who directed us in completely the wrong direction so we ended up being late. Thank God they were ok with us!
In the end I went with the DBL Take and the Seitan Bites for starter, oh I was in heaven, the bites are something else. Sadly having already eaten my weight in food I couldn’t manage all my dinner, so took my seitan bites in my A Slice of the Good Life Tiffin.
And that was our day! I think we managed to cram quiet a lot into half a day, tired little pups we were. I’ll leave you with this poor property we found when walking around after dinner, I couldn’t believe how open he was to the elements and especially how he had neighbors on both sides. I do wonder what happened to put him in such a state.
So myself and my sister’s have just come back from a really good long weekend of just eating food and not only have I put all the weight I lost back on (shock horror, need to get back into the saddle), but I’ve gone and done something stupidly stupid lol!

Super excited is what I really am!
We we’re in Liverpool on the Sunday to get the boat home and seen so many people who had run the Run Rock’n’Roll and well it made us dream, on the boat back we discussed the possibility of putting our names down, not even thinking. It was seeing that the pre-orders for tickets ended on the 27th and that the price was going to full price which forced our hands. If I hadn’t seen that I think we might of let it go to the wayside, as it is I’m so glad we didn’t as we’ll be doing this together!!
So just a wee bit of background since my ankle went to the dark side I’ve not ran anywhere let alone jogged. I won’t even jump!! Prior to my ankle going to the dark side I guess I could run for 5 minutes and maybe jog for 10, you’d be pushing it though!
We’re hoping (me and my big big sister/forever training partner) to start the couch to 5K on Tuesday and follow it through and then just slowly increase our own fitness. We’ll be taking our trainers when we go to Copenhagen and possibly the Christmas Markets with the hopes of running to work or back or both by March next year, that’s 11/12 miles each way.
So here goes to exciting times! I’m really looking forward to the challenge and making sure I document everything here!!
