Little Trip – Day 1

This last weekend was hot with a capital H and what better to do that spend the weekend with my amazing sisters and pop on a boat for a weekend away!!

We set off on Friday afternoon, having all met up outside our workplace to grab a quick lunch, yay for hummus and falafal wraps, then a quick fast walk to get the boat. I was really happy in the fact that my sisters had a) packed minimalistly (see first photo, we all took backpacks, for the win!) and b) brought some Zero Waste helpers along with them. We still have a lot more trial and errors to go through, but overall the weekend went great.

On the boat we tried our first holiday snacks, A Kind Mama brownies and doughnuts. I will be doing a review of them soon (spoiler nice but not quiet what we were expecting). Mini Rant – I’m a wee bit upset that even though I was messaging her about getting as little plastic packaging as possible I still ended up having my brownies sealed in twos in separate plastic, sigh!

Touching down in Liverpool was great, I don’t think I’ve been here when the weather hasn’t been lovely. We took a decent trek down to find the hotel, which was a distance away so I got to get my fill of the canal boats. Oh how I’d love to own one. When I was younger we went on a family holiday on one and I love it so much, so many memories, mostly of eating only peas and prawns though lol! I also follow a few canal boat interior things because seriously some of them are amazing inside.

Finally got to our hotel. We had a wee bit of a rest before heading out for food which was nice, especially in the heat!

One of the things I truly love about Liverpool is the street art, this  particular one we seen a few times and I love her more each time.

Oh dinner!!!

I had already decided that I wanted to try Down the Hatch since someone recommended going and I read the menu. I spent weeks upon weeks drooling just thinking about what I was going to have. Trying to find the place though was a different matter, we though we had given enough time to find the place, but after not really understanding where we were we asked a couple of Police Officers who directed us in completely the wrong direction so we ended up being late. Thank God they were ok with us!

In the end I went with the DBL Take and the Seitan Bites for starter, oh I was in heaven, the bites are something else. Sadly having already eaten my weight in food I couldn’t manage all my dinner, so took my seitan bites in my A Slice of the Good Life Tiffin.

And that was our day! I think we managed to cram quiet a lot into half a day, tired little pups we were. I’ll leave you with this poor property we found when walking around after dinner, I couldn’t believe how open he was to the elements and especially how he had neighbors on both sides. I do wonder what happened to put him in such a state.

OMG! What have I done

So myself and my sister’s have just come back from a really good long weekend of just eating food and not only have I put all the weight I lost back on (shock horror, need to get back into the saddle), but I’ve gone and done something stupidly stupid lol!

I’VE JUST SIGNED UP FOR A HALF MARATHON and 5K!!!!!!!

I must be bleeding mad!

Madder than the hills!

Super excited is what I really am!

We we’re in Liverpool on the Sunday to get the boat home and seen so many people who had run the Run Rock’n’Roll and well it made us dream, on the boat back we discussed the possibility of putting our names down, not even thinking. It was seeing that the pre-orders for tickets ended on the 27th and that the price was going to full price which forced our hands. If I hadn’t seen that I think we might of let it go to the wayside, as it is I’m so glad we didn’t as we’ll be doing this together!!

So just a wee bit of background since my ankle went to the dark side I’ve not ran anywhere let alone jogged. I won’t even jump!! Prior to my ankle going to the dark side I guess I could run for 5 minutes and maybe jog for 10, you’d be pushing it though!

We’re hoping (me and my big big sister/forever training partner) to start the couch to 5K on Tuesday and follow it through and then just slowly increase our own fitness. We’ll be taking our trainers when we go to Copenhagen and possibly the Christmas Markets with the hopes of running to work or back or both by March next year, that’s 11/12 miles each way.

So here goes to exciting times! I’m really looking forward to the challenge and making sure I document everything here!!
