Ahhhhh Liverpool you were once again amazing and I’m so excited to know I’m there again next weekend!
Wednesday 8th May 2019
So on Tuesday I added a few new tattoo’s to my Pokemon sleeve, I love how it’s moving forward, it’s going to be very exciting to see it when the colour goes on. I thought I’d give the skin a day to recover so there was no running sadly. Moving onto Wednesday we did some more strength training in the gym with added foam rolling.
Thursday 9th May 2019
Thursday was um interesting, the whole morning it lashed it down and then it came to our lunchtime run where it was soooooo humid. I don’t know whether you can see this from my glasses. Still managed to get a great time in though which makes me very happy.
Friday 10th May 2019
Friday was another day strength training in the gym! I’m really trying with getting more gym style selfies, how people manage to get great ones and a full session in I have no idea lol!
Saturday 11th May 2019
YAY!! Park Run Saturday, Oh I do love Park Run and this week was extra special because of that view! We’re at Conrhenny for the next 5 weeks because of T.T. and practice week, hoping to get out watching the bikes, hopefully anyhow unbelievably managed a PB somehow!! Even with the killer of a hill.
I cannot believe I only have a couple of weeks till I’m doing the Liverpool Run Rock’n’Roll! Hoping to get out and do more running next week just to keep the mileage ticking over.
Also just noticed, yes I am wearing my Liverpool Spring 10K t-shirt in every photo and yes it did get washed every day lol!
Monday 29th April 2019
As always Monday was my rest day, I really do try and do nothing at all apart from walking though town at lunchtime!
Tuesday 30th April 2019
Tuesday was a strength training day with the sister in the gym. I love the fact that we are both in our London pants and also how different they look! I’m wearing capri’s I swear!!
Wednesday 1st May 2019
Wednesday was a quick (seriously quick as it was just us two) run up and down Douglas prom during lunch. 2.56 Miles of which both were in the 10 min miles!! Still amazed at how fast I am running lately.
Thursday 2nd May 2019
Thursday was another day in the gym strength training, my aim over the coming weeks is to try and get more photo’s of me doing the training sessions we are going through. This TRX is well scary. You just clip it into a portal on the roof and your good to go! I always panic it’s not going to take my weight so I never really know if I’m doing the weights properly or not!!
I also spent the night doing a quick pack for our weekend trip away to Liverpool for the Liverpool Spring 5K & 10K (race report to come on both soon!) I normally pack rather minimally and I found it really hard this time what with the racing costumes and the extra shoes!!
Friday 3rd Mary 2019
So Friday was on the boat day in the afternoon after half a day at work and then the best recce run ever! The night before I had done a quick google map play for a run around Sefton Park as we knew we wanted to get a little run in, well it wasn’t long before I started noticing that the park was perfect to make a suggestive picture! Turns out it was a lot harder to do that I thought, we got lost once, hence the little kick up at the top and then while we were looking at the map figuring out which way to go our other sister continued on down the path, hence the line inside! Overall though it was a good run a bit a lot longer than we wanted!! I was only hoping for a 5K!
Saturday 4th May 2019
Saturday was the Liverpool Spring 5K and I don’t want to say much as I will be doing a Race Report!
Sunday 5th May 2019
Sunday was the Liverpool Spring 10K and as with the 5K I don’t want to say much as I will be doing a Race Report.
We came back home on the Sunday afternoon boat so didn’t have much downtime sadly. This week was more about ticking my fitness over and having a really good time while we were away. I’ve got a “break” week prior to the Harbour to Harbour walk and then it will be the Liverpool Run Rock’n’Roll so not much downtime this month!
So after the amazing PB that I got on the Liverpool Springs 5K, I knew I wanted to do my best during this 10K, especially as it was my second and there was potential that I could beat my time.
My flatlay was done the night before to make sure I had everything I needed. We normally try and wear the supermanx for all the half’s we do as it’s a consistent outfit, plus it saves up having to come up with something every time, anyhow we decided that we’d wear it for the 10K this time.
We got up early, ordered the taxi and then watched the rain, OMG it was lashing it down. We couldn’t belive it.
We packed our bags and was still waiting for the taxi………………yeahhhhhhhh the taxi, the less we say the better. We ordered a taxi two hours before the event so that we would get their early. Turns out that wasn’t early enough.
We got into our taxi half an hour before the start of which we got to the start with our luggage 5 minutes before it was going to start.
We we going crazy!!!
That photo above is off the queue for bag packing on just one of the trucks, they had three of these.
All I could think about was how time was catching up with us. I decided to check on the other two trucks and noticed one was going quicker so we legged it to that one and dropped our luggage off. While we we’re there one of the guys radio’ed back and said they couldn’t start as there was too many people at bag check.
At that time the “official” start time had come and gone!
After dropping off our luggage we raced to the start line and manoeuvred our way up to my “estimated” time.
How cool is the pacer!!!!? She was amazing and had a little music box with her to keep everything going. I was really interested in how she kept pace with two watches which beeped at her if she went over a pace or below a pace.
The race itself started off great, that first mile I felt great, the second amazing by the third I felt like I could continue at that pace forever, oh how that didn’t last.
On the 4th mile I started to feel tired and was dreaming of doing a slower pace, mile 5 was slightly less speed but this is where my moaning started to get out. I seriously cannot think what came over me but I was not the person anyone would want to run with at all.
On mile 6 I was awful, I was crying constantly because the pace was to much and complaining while telling my sister to F’off because she could run at this pace no bother, which just made me even more mad.
Everything really came to a head when someone who must of been a friend with “field mouse” jeered at us….yeahhhhhhh you should never tell anyone they are doing “shit” while running a race, I subsequently told him to F’off very VERY loudly. To this day I still cannot believe anyone would say that to anyone even if you know them or not.
Well I survived the race! It is very bittersweet for me, I got my PB amazingly. My chip time was 1:09:09 which is a PB off just over 4 minutes. Hands down that is amazing but what I put my sister through and “field mouse” through wasn’t worth that at all, in no shape or form.
I apologised immensely, but that will never be enough.
Thankfully I have learned my lesson a PB isn’t worth that. As soon as I started to show real struggle and not just the going to getting tough I should of backed down. I was going to PB anyway at the rate we were running at the start so if I backed off for the last two miles I would of made it. I think having the stress at the start of the race probably didn’t help but that isn’t any suitable excuse.
Overall both the 5K and the 10K were amazing. I loved both runs and depending on how everything falls I can see myself doing them again, because how could I not, that bling was pure gold lol.
Liverpool Springs oh how excited we were for you! We had arrived the day before to our amazing AirBnB which we WILL be staying in again hopefully for next year! Especially if we do the Liverpool Springs again!
The night before I got all my stuff together. I had managed to persuade my sisters once again that we needed to dress up, and especially so as it was the 4th of May, you can kinda guess what theme we went with……….May the 4th be with you lol. I found the t shirt on eBay and new instantly it would go with out Tikiboo pants.
We got to the event kind of early because our Airbnb was literally just around the corner, which turned out great. We got a couple of photo’s taken with the local radio station and a lovely one of us all together.
There wasn’t anything to do at the start point apart from just hover in the sun, though we did pretend to be kids and get glitter put on us.
Obviously required selfie before we set off!
The course itself was actually really good, all set with Sefton Park which made it great, it also had a couple of hills which I wasn’t prepared for!
I felt the run itself we by very fast, I don’t know why but as soon as I was on that start line I was telling myself that I was going to PB. I tried to talk myself out of it as well this was my first “official” 5K, even though I had done countless 5K’s in training and Park Runs. Even more so because the day after I would be doing my second 10K and wanted a PB. Nothing worked and I ended up just going for it!
I’m still amazed that I PB’ed the course, I cannot even get my head around it. My goal for 2019 was to get my 5K time to below 35 minutes and I smashed that by doing a time of 32.54!!!
I loved this course and would recommend it for anyone.
So I really need to get my bum back in gear, I have so much I need to train for and I am so much happier when I actually have a program to work today’s. Sadly prior to this week I did some epic weight lifting and managed to hurt my back really badly. Not only did this mean I missed out on the Easter Festival of Running (watch out I’m coming for you next year) but it meant that this week I was just putting the feelers out to see how I was functioning.
Monday 22nd April 2019
YAY for Bank Holiday’s right! Extra YAY for the other half actually being off!! This is my first “proper” run after a week off because of my back and well I was much happier to actually do this with someone than without, just encase my back didn’t hold up!
After much decision we decided to run around Archallagan, now this Plantation is our local one and I have walked and cycled it more times than I can count. I seriously love it more than anything and this little place is my happy place. I remember walking and cycling dreaming of running around it and after I broke my ankle I never thought I’d be able to do it well today I did and it was amazing, so much so I will be adding it to my running routes!
Total running today 2.6 Miles
Tuesday 23rd April 2019
Normally today we would be doing a walk/run with Jessica during lunch to get her out but she was busy so it was just myself and Corrine. Cue a super speedy 2.6 Miles!! I couldn’t believe how fast I was going and oh my, it was so good to stretch these legs!!
I had so much fun at lunch that I decided to go out again after work. As I wanted to take the pup out I thought the best place would be along out heritage trail. It’s a lovely (if a wee bit rocky and bumpy from all the muddy cycling!) old disused railway line. If you follow it all the way through you’ll get to Douglas. I stupidly downloaded prior to going a 150bpm podcast. Let’s just say that was one super speedy run!! I didn’t even know I had it in me!
Total ran today 6.9 Miles
Wednesday 24th April 2019
Today we just did some really good cross training.
I love going to the gym to do strength training, I really do feel like it’s my spirit animal. I decided to just focus on our upper arm strength and some crossfit items. All in all it was a really good session for 45 minutes!!
Friday 26th April 2019
Another day in the gym doing strength training! I was really glad that this one was mostly upper arms. I had gone out for site inspections in the morning so my ankle was killing me by the time lunch came around!!
So not only have I got the Liverpool Spring 5K/10K and the Run Rock’n’Roll Liverpool 5K/Half Marathon I thought it would be great to sign up for the Harbour to Harbour walk at home! It’s 9 miles and we’re expecting to finish it less than 3 hours hopefully. I’m going to be using it as a practice for the Parish Walk just to give us an idea of how well I’ll be doing. I’ve also put down that I’ll be doing it with the pup so it will be a lovely walk out with him.
Saturday 27th April 2019
I’m sure you’ve heard but it seems like a little storm was coming out way and well it turns out we’re all quite mad. As next weekend is the Liverpool Spring 5K/10K and we’d just mad out outfits we thought today would be a great day to try them out, and boy was it a day. We had a Park Run full of wind, rain and flash flooding!! I’ve never seen so much water during a Park Run since I started doing them, we ran with Jess so managed to get it done in around 45 minutes, which for Jess is really good!
Total ran today 3.15 Miles
Sunday 28th April 2019
Second to last long run with Jessica today before Run Rock’n’Roll Liverpool Half Marathon so we went for a 10 miler around Castletown way. Mainly because I had LLAG afterwards. The run was great timing for Jess and it gives her a good idea of when she would be looking at finishing. I defiantly expect her to be finishing before the 3.30 hour cut off.
Did Lift Like a Girl Barbell class straight afterwards and I learnt my lesson from the last time I did it and did low weights compared to what I can actually do just because May is so bleeding busy I just cannot have any chances of getting an injury!
So when we got home from LLAG it was straight onto catching up with the London Marathon and well of cause I had to put my name in the pot! It’s one of those dream races which prior to running I was always like “oh wouldn’t it be amazing to do” and now I’m like “I could so smash that.” We’ll see though I’ve heard stories of people taking over 7 years to get in and longer!!! It would be amazing if I could get in though as I do have grand aspirations of maybe adding a lovely six star finisher to my medal collection (cough cough) LOL!!
Total ran today 10 Miles
Total ran this week 22.8 Miles!
I LOVE VELOFORTE
What I don’t love is the price though! So when they had a cycling challenge to do 120km in 14 days with the reward being 40% off you can damn near guarantee I will be one of the first out there on my bike getting the miles in!
Contrary to popular belief prior to becoming obsessed with running I was purely a cyclist with dreams of one day doing a triathlon. Though I never did anything about my dream I did cycle quite a lot. I loved it and I seriously need to get out more this summer, I will do once I figure out how to do everything. Anyway back to the challenge!
I worked out that over the 14 days the challenge I would have to cycle at least 5 miles, ideally 6 miles to make sure I was all in (cough wrestling pun lol). Now we all know that life can get in the way so the other half helped me in finding a track of 6.1 miles and a track of 7.5 miles.
Monday 1st April – Day 1
Lovely shake out of the legs, 7.5 miles completed.
7.54/ 74.56Miles (120km)
Tuesday 2nd April – Day 2
Played a lovely cat and mouse game with a guy on the main straight back! He was amazing kept to his wheel all the way till the hill!! Cut short as didn’t want to do the hill on my own, not that good setting off from a standstill!! 6.12 Miles completed today
13.66 / 74.56Miles (120km)
Wednesday 3rd April – Day 3
Cold, wet and a bleeding icy wind! 6.12 Miles completed today.
19.78 / 74.56Miles (120km)
Thursday 4th April – Day 4
I really didn’t want to go out today as I remembered how awful it was yesterday but all I could think of was how all this cycling is helping my overall fitness plus 40% off!!! And yes that is a rain 6.22 Miles completed today
26 / 74.56Miles (120km)
Friday 5th April – Day 5
Back with the other half so a longer cycle today aptly named “oh look, they have a tractor in their back yard, think I could buy it for £50? We’d have to fit a bike rack on it though” Ride LOL!! Yes that is what the other half said while we we’re cycling past!! 7.76 miles completed today.
33.76 / 74.56Miles (120km)
Monday 8th April – Day 8
So I had the weekend off to run and felt so good during our cycle that I would do the switchback road. OMG that hill!!! It was so worth it, even if I was struggling to get up the hill!! I truly wish you could see how steep it was from the photo! 10.97 Miles completed today.
44.73 / 74.56Miles (120km)
Tuesday 9th April – Day 9
God it was hard today! I was having a proper shark week moment and just moaning about everything. I do truly feel sorry for Michael for putting up with me. I dreamed of pizza the whole cycle to only decide I was sticking to my diet and making pasta instead. 7.53 Miles completed today
52.26 / 74.56Miles (120km)
Wednesday 10th April – Day 10
Feeling 100% better today and decided to try and get a photo with the sheep, yeahhhh didn’t quiet work lol. 7.53 Miles completed today
59.79 / 74.56Miles (120km)
Friday 12th April – Day 12
Spent the whole cycle chasing the sun. Wanted to do two laps but it got to dark to quickly for me to feel comfortable. 6.13 Miles completed today.
65.92 / 74.56Miles (120km)
Saturday 13th April – Day 13
This was the make or break ride out. I knew without a doubt I wouldn’t be going out on the Sunday as I had to get a run in and I had already ran today so I knew I was going to be slow. The headwind was super killer but the sun was shining and it was such a beauty of a finish to the challenge. 12.30 Miles completed today.
78.22 / 74.56Miles (120km)
There you have it! In the end in 13 days I managed to cycle over the 120km and do 125km almost 126km. I loved the challenge so so much and I’m already thinking about the next one! I really do need to get out more on the bike. For the last year I’ve been obsessed with running and as such I just haven’t been cycling as much as I would like.
I’ve got to give a lot of credit to this beauty, (as well as the other half), she’s over the hill now but still perfect for me and I do love her so so much!!
And yes I did overspend on the Veloforte items!!
